Much Better...

Hello All!!!
Here are the pictures I said I would post after Organizing part of my craft room. ( I still have much more to do. ) But here is where I keep the yarn... which was very messy.
So here we have the Yarn Closet. ... See how I am using a book case to help. I have cookbooks and yarn in it...

And here is a picture of the Top Shelf.

And here is a picture for Sandra... ( www.sandrasingh.com ) That is where I bought it. It's my Malabrigo shelf... ;-) How is that for an advertisement ?

Next I want to clean out the other side of Michael's closet... It still has some of his stuff in it, even though he has moved into his own place. Gee, Mom & Dad get to keep some of it. * I even have all of his Degrees * ;-) I want to have them all framed for him... but I digress..... I want to do to the other side of the closet as I did to this side that is in the pictures. * It's a big double closet with sliding doors..... And I'm only putting those container against the back of the wall & in the middle. So there is plenty of room for stuff like clothes...LOL
Then I also have an L shaped table in that room to clean off. But it's COVERED with his AND my stuff. I have an old computer on that table too. I'm wondering if I should sell the knitting books. ( Can't knit anymore. It hurts my wrist.) But I love my crochet.
Let me know what you think. If you have an idea I could use... let me know...:-)

  1. Susan thank you so much for adding my site link! I love your Malabrigo Shelf, a whole shelf, wow! I know a lot of knitters who would be jealous ;) As for the stuff....hmmmm maybe its garage sale time? Or donate the books to your local library? Or perhaps sell some of it on ebay, I did that for a long time and was always amazed at what would sell.

Good luck, keep on working on your Craft Room its looking fabulous!

  2. Sandra,

Those are the cookbooks that are autographed. I keep them there so they don't get hurt or messed up. LOL... The stuff I'm throwing out of there goes to Goodwill, Consignment shop or yard sale. Just not sure which one yet.

And your more then welcome about the link.

  3. I am SO impressed. Such organization. I'd be afraid to do it that way for fear Ken would see how much yarn I REALLY have! It looks great.

I wonder if your local extended care/nursing home could use some of your patterns for their residents?

  4. LOL @ what you said about Ken finding your Goodies Stored...... With the yarn being stored in the closet in those containers, all I need to do is slide the closet doors shut... ;-)

We have 2 nursing homes not far from us. I didn't think of that. I can make things for them in between projects also. ( I aleady have a bag of bottle bags and fingerless gloves for Cancer Patients at Good Sam Hosp. They like the fingerless gloves to go over the needle marks from I.V.'s... Better then looking at the nasty marks those needles leave.

Thanks for reminding me of that... :-) It's a good idea!

    Thanks for writing... :-)

  5. WOW....I refer to my teensy computer/craft room as "the hole". I clean it in early Oct every year (my birthday present to myself) and it never even looks as good as your "before" shots...LOL!!! So...when can you come do mine??

  6. Hi Sally... :-)

Very Funny... I have no idea how long this get up & clean house feeling is going to stick with me... So I'm making good use of it. It's that " I want to clean " feeling you get at the change of the seasons...

It's easy to clean up the yarns with those containers. I'm sure they are in stores around your area also. They are just STERLITE containers. You can get them at JoAnn's THIS week on special...JoAnn.com that. To get FREE SHIPPING.. use the code...

  7. Looks great! I just wish I had a craft room of my own. I have to do my sewing on the dining room table and my crocheting in the living room or my bedroom. Maybe someday when we own our own house I can be so lucky! LOL! (We rent a small duplex right now).
But honestly, it looks great! Organization is always a good thing! :o)

  8. Hi Gina!

The only reason I have a craft room is beacuse our son moved out after college & into his own place.... Now it's half craft room that can be a wonderful guest bedroom in a few minutes... In other words... with all my craft stuff in containers... I just close the closet and you don't see it anymore...;-) Even my blocking board is in there. I'm ALMOST impressed with myself...LOL

Nothing wrong with a duplex...My Aunt & Uncle use to live in for one. She made it real cozy... She was real good with crafts... but mostly her baking....Oh she was good. If you ever go to their house... be prepared to put on a few pounds... :-(

    Thanks for writing!!!
