My Kitchen Aid Cover In Process...

Hi!

Here is the cover I'm making for the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer I bought for 25.00 at a yard sale!!! Sure it's older , but it works GREAT!

Kitchen Aid Cover In Progress.

And for those of you who want to make a cover for your own stand mixer or any other appliance... I couldn't fine a pattern, so I just made one up... But it's working fine for me.

I Am using Lily 100 % Cotton Yarn

G Hook

And the only stitch is ( SC ) Single Crochet

I started by chaining 4, then Slip Stitch the last stitch to the first stitch to make a circle.

Then make 8 SC in the circle.

Divide those stitches by 2 and use open stitch markers to mark your corners. They are tiny to start with, but it will grow...:) And you move the stitch markers as you go. It's tedious at first. But it pays off.

You want to make a big square that will later cover the TOP of your Stand Mixer or other Appliance.

Then at about round 5, it will want to start curling... So before it curls, start making 2 SC in each corner. You want to keep it flat.

When it's big enough to cover the top of

your Mixer or other appliance, you want it to start to go down to make the sides.

To make the sides go down, you just do a DECREASE in the each corner for 2 rounds.

And just keep on making your rounds til it's long enough to cover you appliance and touch your counter.

Weave in ends... voila!!!

I'll be going to JoAnn's today to see about getting some TRIM for the edge of my cover. I want to see what they have. I thought I saw some braided trim the other day.

Have a Great & SAFE 4th. of July Weekend !!!

Susan

  1. That's great - when you were asking for a pattern, I was thinking that you could probably just make it up as you go...that's what I would have done...looks like it's coming along nicely!

  2. Good Morning!!!

Hope you had a great 4th of July! we had a grill out at my Mom's house. Our son grilled steaks. I'll have to post the picture I took of Mom feeding Sissy steak from the table. ...:-)

Yes... So far I have used up 3 balls of that Lily Yarn. ( Creme & Sugar I think) It's ALMOST done. But I plan on putting trim on it to finish it. I'll be sure to get a picture of it when it's done.
