Good Afternoon!!!

Does anyone ever buy plants on-line? And if so, what is the site you buy gardening stuff from? I just got some Night Blooming Jasmine a few days ago. Lets hope it lives. I feel in love with Night Blooming Jasmine in Corona Del Mar, CA. while visiting my Aunt & Uncle there.

Wish Me Luck...

  1. I'm pretty sure I got the Jacks from The Dollar Tree. They are big and plastic but worked for my picture.

Let me think about the gardening and plant stuff online. Off the top of my head I know I like www.kinsmangarden.com for planters. They also have a free catalog. I know I get a catalog for bulbs that I order from too, but need to find it for the name. Will get back to you on my list.

  2. Hi Susan! I tried to leave you a comment the other day about your pictures being lost, but I see it got lost in cyberspace.

Do you know that all of the pictures you have posted on your blog since the very beginning are online and you can access them? Go Here: http://picasaweb.google.com/home and sign in with your Blogger ID and password.

I hope this helps you at least recover some of your photos!

  3. I love Jasmine, any kind. Right now I have some star jasmine out back and whenever I'm doing my dishes with the windows open, I can smell its lovely scent.
Yes, I have purchased plants online. I got my four (heirloom) rose bushes from MichiganBulb.com and I also purchased some Tuberoses, a lilac bush, lilies of the valley, a mini lemon bush and another flower (I can't think of it right now) from them. Everything's thriving, except the lilies of the valley didn't make it. I'm guessing it's probably because it's too hot and humid for them here (even though I had them in the shade.) But they're good about giving refunds.

  5. Doris,

I'll have to check out the STAR Jasmine. What is wrong with your Lily Of The Valley. We have that along the side of our house. It has really spread. I wonder if I could send you some??? Do you think it would live through the mail? :-) We're near Cincinnati Ohio.
It gets very humid here. So it can't be from that. Just let me know if you want some Lily Of The Valley.

  6. Hi Susan,

It is very humid here too - I live in Southern Georgia, about 30 miles north of the Florida border.
When I got the lilies of the valley, they were shipped in the mail by MichiganBulb.com wrapped in plastic and then in some kind of cardboard container...they probably had peatmoss around the roots to keep them moist and prevent them from drying out. I planted them (there were 6 plants) and somehow in a period of maybe 8 moths, they totally disintegrated...the leaves were green for a little while, yet they never grew, like they were in shock.
But what probably happened is that they got sprayed with the chemicals from Pest Control. I live in an apartment that has pest control every month, one month inside, the next one outside. When they spray outside, they drive right by the house with trucks full of that stuff and shoot it in big streams directly onto the house and that's where the plants were. I have some of my plants in containers and have to run and move them or cover them when I see them coming, but I can't have everything sitting up on my porch in pots, management won't allow that.
So, I'd better pass on your kind and generous offer for now...

Have a nice weekend and happy gardening :-)

  7. Doris,

O.K. I can understand. You would just have cover them. Try saying something to that Pest Control.... I would. ( but that's just me)

I just planted some Begonias. They look good so far.
