Don't Want You To Think...

... that I forgot you!!! I have been out driving instead of crocheting these last couple of days... Well, not constantly, but I seem to find reasons to take a little trip somewhere for next to no reason at all...:-) " Oh, we need Milk... I get home..." Oh darn...I forgot the Orange Juice. So I better DRIVE back to the store..." ;-) ... I forgot to tell you , It's a Ford Focus SES. ( 2010) I even have something called Ambient Lighting in it... Like Mood Lighting. Hmm... Hubby & I need to go out on a date...:-)

We also met our sons new girlfriend this past weekend. We really like her... And we're planning a birthday for our son also. He'll be turning 30... * Am I old enough to have a 30 yr.old? * I guess so... We had him in 1979. I know I was in labor with him for about 19 - 20 hours... But I no longer remember the pain... They say that the memory of the pain of child birth will slowly fade...I guess it has. But the funny part is, my husband remembers me squeezing his hand so hard it still hurts...LOL

Anyway, we'll be going out to eat at a German restaurant for his birthday. Think I should DRIVE to the Mall and get a new outfit to wear? Gotta get Michael a birthday present also...;-)

I Have Something To Show You...

... But it's so dark & gray out. It's been raining for days. Not a good day for pictures outside... So I'll try this...

... O.K. Let's see if anyone knows what it is by looking at this picture... I know.. It's on the dark side.

As you can see, I love Fleur Di Lis... :-)

Maybe this one will help a bit...

Artesanal Yarn... ?

...Does any one know where to buy that? I forgot where I bought it. I'm using it now to make a shawl while I wait for my other yarn to arrive so I can complete Michael's afghan...

Thanks if someone knows where I can buy 1 more skein of it. I'll look at some yarn stores on-line to see if I can find it.

Pictures From The Raid...

...Morgans Raid that is... A Civil War Re-Enactment... Does your little suburb do this? LOL Here is my husband decked out as scruffy looking confederate soldier before the re- enactment. He had to grow a messy looking beginning of a beard for this. YUCK. I may be getting more pictures from my brother the photographer... So I can post those later when he gets them to me.

Roses from Our Front Yard...

Look what I have in our kitchen... These little roses are on the peninsula in a small vase.

And these are on the window between the kitchen & Dining room. If you look to the left side of the roses, you'll see a little bit of the Living Room Then the right side is a corner of the Dining Room.

Talk about trying to avoid the thorns... But well worth it.

Mom's Afghan & A Friends Blog...

.... This morning I was going down the list of blogs I try to read daily... And I came across one I would like to share with you. One Yarn After Another... By Bev Matheson ... http://bevmatheson.blogspot.com/ I hope you enjoy it...:-)

... .And here is what I have been working on. An Afghan for my Mom. Here is the beginning of it. I'm using 2 dark earthy yarns & a streak of a Creamy Off White. I'll post it when it's done. This is just so you have an idea of what I'm working on. Her chair is beige, so it should look good. I'll try to remember to get a picture of it ON her chair like I did Dad's. I'm keeping my family warm this winter. I just feel like crocheting afghans now. I have no idea when I'll be able to work on my sweater again. It's more of summer sweater. The yarn is a Pink Silk & Cotton. I can just work on it in between other projects. In Mean time... It's in the corner waiting for my interest to spark...;-) Too many other things for right now.

...Here is a close up of stitches... I like the dark brown contrasting with the dark rusty color. :-)

The Colors Of Fall...

... some of the trees are changing colors already. Later I'll be taking pictures of our Fall Foliage... I post those pictures for my Aunt in California to view. She misses the changing of seasons here in Ohio. So this is my way of sharing them with her. Now if I could just get those colors onto yarn.

Have you ever noticed that the most beautiful colors on yarn are taken from nature? They have Mountain Color yarns... They need " Fall Color Yarn " It would be wonderful to dye yarn just the PERFECT shades. But I prefer to learn to crochet better first. Then I can dive into color... ;-)

Be Back In An Hour Or So... O.K. I'm back... But I have found out there is going to be a Tribute To Patrick Swayze tonight on Spike T.V. And later this week on Sept. 19th... they are going to show several of his movies as in tribute to him also...:-) I'm going to find my rocking chair & crochet hook & watch the tribute...:-)

The " Real " King Of Pop... ;-)

Today I worked at Music Hall and saw potraits plus other pieces of history about Erich Kunzel... Our Conductor... So here is some of what I have read

Eruch Kunzel, conductor of much-recorded Cincinnati Pops, dies at 74
Erich Kunzel, whose fame as a pops conductor came closer than anyone else to that of the legendary Arthur Fiedler, died Tuesday of cancer at the age of 74.
For more than 30 years, he led the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, a collaboration preserved on more than 100 recordings that have sold more than 10 million copies.

Mr. Kunzel had an unmistakable gift for the pops idiom and a flair for communicating his enthusiasm. His talents reached a large TV audience thanks to the many Fourth of July concerts he conducted with the National Symphony Orchestra that were broadcast on PBS from the grounds of the US Capitol.
Here are some more details from Lisa Cornwell's obituary for the AP:

Kunzel was diagnosed with liver, colon and pancreatic cancer in April, but continued conducting while undergoing treatment. He died Tuesday morning at a hospital near his home in Swan's Island, Maine, said Chris Pinelo, a spokesman for the Cincinnati Pops.
On July 4, Kunzel conducted a concert at the U.S. Capitol with Aretha Franklin. He had led the National Symphony on the Capitol lawn in nationally televised Memorial Day and Independence Day concerts since 1991.

This year, he also conducted a concert in Beijing, where he and the Cincinnati Pops last year performed in opening festivities for the Summer Olympics.

Kunzel also led the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops in many performances.

Born in New York City, Kunzel was educated at Dartmouth, Harvard and Brown universities and began his professional conducting career in 1957 with the Santa Fe Opera. He came to Cincinnati in 1965 as assistant conductor to Max Rudolph, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra's former music director. The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra was officially established in 1977 with Kunzel as conductor.

The Cincinnati classical pops ensemble has been one of the most active in the world, maintaining a year-round performing and recording schedule and making numerous television appearances. Kunzel recorded more than 125 albums and was named Billboard Magazine's Classical Crossover Artist of the Year for four consecutive years.

Kunzel received the National Medal of Arts from President George W. Bush in 2006 for outstanding contributions to the arts and was inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame in 2008.

Kunzel is survived by his wife, Brunhilde.

Maintaining a crowded agenda at an energetic pace throughout his career, Kunzel told The Cincinnati Enquirer in an interview in July that he was stunned by his cancer diagnosis. "It wasn't on the schedule," he said.

Here It is...

....Just like I said I would... Pictures of the afghan I made for my Dad. And I got it done BEFORE they got back from vacation last night...:-)

And here it is on his chair... I think it looks O.K. on it. Although he may be able to use a new chair... But he loves his green chair.

Next I want to make one for Mom. Her chair is new. It's Beige. But I'm taking Mom with me to go yarn shopping.
I guess when you go on line or to your own craft room... it's still called yarn shopping / hunting. Anyway.. she is much pickier about colors. I think she likes the Dark Rust color that is "IN" for Fall..( That is isn't excatly Rusty looking) ...LOL ...Wool Ease worsted weight carries very nice earthy colors I think she'll like here at JoAnn's. www.joann.com We'll go there. :-)

Much Better...

Hello All!!!
Here are the pictures I said I would post after Organizing part of my craft room. ( I still have much more to do. ) But here is where I keep the yarn... which was very messy.
So here we have the Yarn Closet. ... See how I am using a book case to help. I have cookbooks and yarn in it...

And here is a picture of the Top Shelf.

And here is a picture for Sandra... ( www.sandrasingh.com ) That is where I bought it. It's my Malabrigo shelf... ;-) How is that for an advertisement ?

Next I want to clean out the other side of Michael's closet... It still has some of his stuff in it, even though he has moved into his own place. Gee, Mom & Dad get to keep some of it. * I even have all of his Degrees * ;-) I want to have them all framed for him... but I digress..... I want to do to the other side of the closet as I did to this side that is in the pictures. * It's a big double closet with sliding doors..... And I'm only putting those container against the back of the wall & in the middle. So there is plenty of room for stuff like clothes...LOL
Then I also have an L shaped table in that room to clean off. But it's COVERED with his AND my stuff. I have an old computer on that table too. I'm wondering if I should sell the knitting books. ( Can't knit anymore. It hurts my wrist.) But I love my crochet.
Let me know what you think. If you have an idea I could use... let me know...:-)

Today, Messy Stash...

.....later today, Neat.... After I buy some more matching blue & clear storage boxes from JoAnn's...

I have been cleaning our house room by room... Today I came to this room to clean...

.......... It is my messy craft room......... Another shot of it.....

See those clear containers with the blue lids? I like those... You can actually see what is in them... :-) ... They stack well...I plan on making this mess... UNCLUTTERED... Wish me luck... So I'm getting more containers like that. They aren't expensive... just very neat...:-)

Michael won't recognize his bedroom when he comes to visit. I want to line the back of his big closet wall with those containers... I'll get a picture of it when I'm done so you can see it.

... Doesn't EVERYONE have a cupboard like this? I have been making those little Glass Cozies when I'm reading on the computer... I sit here, read & crochet. ... I love getting our newspaper On Line...

No paper mess to contend with. My way of Saving The Trees? Not Really ... It's just cheaper & neater.....;-)
...Looks like I need to make MATCHING GLASS COZIES... Instead of using scrap yarn.

But we love this room, our family room, just the way it is... :-) Maybe a new sofa ... But the rocking chair is my Grandma's chair. I love it.

Hmm... Looks like a few Blue & Clear containers could be used here also. Or I could just hurry up & finish the 3 different projects I have laying there. ;-)
